Atrocity has come a very long way since their debute album in 1990. Atrocity began their careeer with five young germans playing brutal death metal that lyricly touched on real life topics. The band took a giant leap forward on their 3rd album "BLUT" which was a concept album about vampires. They slowed down the tempo, acquiring a very thick and lush production, adding more instrumentation and melody and growler Alex Krull actually shouting AND anunciating his words in a way that was almost more natural. It was one of the most powerful and more or less SURPRISING albums to be released by these young Germans. 1997 saw a very odd yet very entertaining move for Atrocity when the band did an entire album of 80's modern rock songs covering everyone from Tears for Fears to David Bowie. The band made another serious leap when they released their 5th full length album "Gemini" by taking on a more industrial type approach. This album's crisp and heavy new sound launched them in front of an entirely new audience, but unfortunately they left their older fans in the dark. With as much genre leaping this former death metal band has made, it's almost interesting to see just where they might land next.
