AC/DC has never been a heavy metal band per se, but their basic stripped-back hard rock style has been the catalyst for a million bands, many of which you'll find somewhere on this site. Since their early days in Sydney Australia in the 1970s, AC/DC has gone on to become one of the biggest and most influential bands ever. Their music is the hardest and heaviest hard rock of all and has utterly ignored fashions or trends now for 30 years. They peaked with either Highway to Hell or Back in Black, depending on who you listen to, but For Those About to Rock is also just as good. Subsequent releases have been patchy (although The Razor's Edge wasn't bad), but Stiff Upper Lip is perhaps their best album in many years. Back in Black is one of the top five best selling albums of all time.
