Band: Machine Head
Machine Head began as an awesome thrash band with an updated 90's sound, but soon turned from greatness to mediocrity. The debut is awesome in most respects, and the follow-up was pretty good. On "The Burning Red" the slight hints at nu-metal seen previously became a focal point. This is a case of a sellout attempt gone awry, as album sales have actually decreased as more hip-hop influences were incorporated.
In 2004, Flynn has partially returned to his thrash roots with the decent "Through the Ashes of Empires", which is easily the best release by Machine Head since "Burn My Eyes". It still has nu-metal elements, but it's more thrash than anything they've released in a while.
