Brainstorm is no stranger to the European power metal scene. They surfaced in the early 90's with a handful of demo's and independant releases garnering themselves a faithful following. As their music was making waves in Europe in the early 90's, the US scene was taking a fall due to the up rising in the Alternative market. This didn't slow down Brainstorm for a moment, sticking to their guns and releasing two albums "Hungry" and "Unholy". By the time "Unholy" was released, the US market began to seem more welcome and Brainstorm were gaining a buzz on the north American shores. It wasn't long before they were picked up by Metal Blade records and relased the classic "Ambiguity" album. They would again include the keyboard talents of Miro (Kamelot, Luca Turilli) but would replace long-time vocalist Marcus Jurgens with Ex-Ivanhoe frontman Andy B. Franck. With the stellar success of "Ambiguity" Brainstorm bombarded the scene once again a year later with their most agressive album to date called "Metus Mortis". The album drives with a powermetal feel with many thrash overtones. Many fans of classic thrash AND powermetal site this as one of the most powerful albums to be realeased in 2001. With a track record like theirs, I am sure that Brainstorm will be around for quite some time pummeling out power metal anthems for the metal masses. Definatly a band not to be overlooked!
